Fred Thompson Set to Announce Run For President

NPR's Morning Edition reported this morning that psuedo-candidate for president Fred Thompson will announce his candidacy officially with a multi-day media event. Thompson, presently known as "District Attorney Arthur Branch" on NBC's popular Law & Order, has been flirting openly with a run for the Oval Office. Even as an undeclared candidate, he's ranked among the top-tier of GOP candidates. Declaring officially will expose Mr. Thompson to more  federal campaign finance scrutiny, and open attack from his fellow Republican cadidates and, of course, Democrats.

Reports had it that Thompson's shadow run at the presidency didn't raise as much money as he'd hoped, so to be better financed, and to avoid charges of running in secret -- out in the open -- he's going to declare officially.
