In Memoriam for 9/11: A Prayer For The Lost

Father, we pray for the souls of the deceased
Those taken from this world wrongly, and violently
Casualties of a war they were neither part of
Nor even aware

We pray for the brave, in uniform and not
Who gave their lives that others would survive
We thank those, the many who gave all
And all who gave some

Father, we pray for the families left behind
That the pain of their loss be diminished by time
While the memory of their loved ones be magnified by history
For those innocent that were lost we pray for your forgiveness

We commit their souls to you.
