I know we tend to keep it really serious, and real here at The 'Hustle, but once in a while, a gem crosses the electronic mail and I just have to comment or at least let my readers check it out. This joint qualifies!
Courtesy of Lynn G., here is a bit of TV history that Washingtonians -- and us Baltimoreans who could catch DC TV signals -- would surely love to forget. Watch this video of Washington, DC radio icon Petey Greene on his weekly TV show, then shown on WDCA-TV. Before his untimely death from cancer in 1984 -- after which an estimated 10,000 to 20,000 mourners lined up outside of a Washington church to pay their respects -- Petey was a legend in his own time, being one of the original "shock jocks" during his time at WOL-AM radio in DC, and one of the first former prison convicts to transition well to the media. But he was also a really deep dude, who was very active in his community, working with Juwanza Kunjufu on a variety of projects, including the United Planning Organization, and Efforts for Ex-Convicts. He's portrayed by Don Cheadle, in the movie Talk to Me.
At once a statesman, guest of presidents, miscreant, and brilliant, Ralph Waldo Emerson "Petey" Greene was something to everybody, apparently even a bit of a clown, as this video will attest. 70's chic at it's finest, y'all.

This was too funny! I'm amazed that he was able to talk about watermelon -- and with such enthusiasm -- for almost six minutes! Of course, I didn't miss the real message: be yourself! LOL.
